A Successful PIV Unit Installation in Mansfield

Solving Condensation and Black Mould for a Local Homeowner

At ClearAir PIV, we are always happy to help homeowners across Mansfield and Nottinghamshire take control of damp, condensation, and black mould. Recently, we installed a heated PIV unit for one of our customers, Helen Bacon. Helen was struggling with persistent condensation and poor air quality in her 4 bed detached property.

The Property and the Problem in Mansfield

Helen lives in a four-bedroom detached farmhouse just outside Mansfield. The house has beautiful character and original features. But it also came with a familiar problem. Excess moisture and black mould forming on cold walls and window frames.

Even with regular cleaning and ventilation through windows. Condensation was an issue, especially during colder months. Helen told us that the air felt damp, and musty smells had started to linger.

Helen contacted ClearAir PIV after reading up on PIV systems. From her research she learned that a PIV unit can permanently stop condensation. Helen also wanted to improve air quality with better air circulation throughout her home. So after reading our reviews she completed our 20 second PIV eligibility checker and contacted the team.

Our Positive Input Ventilation Solution

After a free home assessment, our team recommended a heated PIV unit installation. The heated model was the ideal choice for a rural property like Helen’s farmhouse. The system introduces fresh, filtered air while maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature.

The unit was fitted discreetly in the loft, with outlets positioned to ensure even air distribution across the whole house. The installation took just a few hours by our NAPIT accredited team. All done with minimal disruption, no mess and no redecorating needed afterwards.

Once installed, the PIV unit began working immediately, gently pushing out stale, damp air and replacing it with clean, filtered air. Within days, Helen noticed a big difference.

The Result

The results were clear within the first week. Helen has reported back to us in our post installation consultation that condensation on windows had completely disappeared. The rooms in the property felt fresher and less humid.

Helen said that the air was noticeably cleaner, especially in her bedrooms. Most importantly there were no more musty smells or black mould returning after cleaning.

Helen told us:

The service that we received from ClearAir PIV and Steven himself has been excellent. We have been looking into PIV systems for a while as we have had such a problem with condensation on our bedroom windows. As soon as the temperature begins to drop each year the windows are covered. It has ruined the decor around the windows and caused mould to grow on the frames. Having spoken to Steven on the phone I could tell had specialist knowledge in the area. There was no hard sell, just advice. I got him booked in the same week to fit an Nuaire PIV and I’m so glad we did. Fitting was done quickly and cleanly by John who was friendly, well presented and very knowledgeable and experience in ventilation systems. Steven came too to give advice on another issue we had discussed on the phone.
Result: NO MORE CONDENSATION!!! I thought it might take a few days to clear the moisture, but the next morning we checked the windows when they would normally be soaked and… nothing! And nothing since! So happy!

I’d read in some reviews of the PIV systems that they were noisy and made the landing cold. This is not my experience. I honestly can’t hear it and although the landing may be ever so slightly cooler, the overall temp of the house isn’t effected and it’s not anything I’m concerned about.

It’s another great example of how a PIV unit installation in Mansfield can transform a home quickly and permanently.

Why a PIV System Works

A Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) system prevents condensation by continually introducing filtered, fresh air into the property. This creates gentle air movement that removes excess moisture. This stops damp forming on cold surfaces.

For homes in Nottinghamshire, where older properties often have limited insulation. A heated PIV unit is especially effective. It provides clean air circulation without causing cold draughts. They are designed to protect the property and the people living in it.
