A Successful PIV Unit Installation in Derby

Eliminating Condensation and Improving Air Quality

At ClearAir PIV, we regularly help homeowners across Derbyshire who are dealing with persistent condensation. Recently, we carried out a PIV unit installation for Mr Phil Cole, who lives in a four-bedroom detached house in Derby. Phil had been struggling with condensation dampness. This resulted in poor indoor air quality and recurring black mould that kept returning despite cleaning. He wanted a long-term solution that would work across his whole living environment.

The Customer and the black mould Problem

Phil’s home was showing several clear signs of excess moisture. Condensation and mould gathered on windows each morning. Black mould patches had begun to form on external walls during the winter months and the house was full of damp and mould.

The inconsistent air quality was becoming a concern too. With a busy household and the heating running daily, the indoor environment often felt heavy with humid air. Phil reached out to us after researching condensation control options and reading about how PIV technology removes moisture at the source.

He booked a property survey to understand what type of ventilation unit solution would work best for his home.

The Positive Input Ventilation Assessment

During the assessment, we found that humidity levels were higher than expected for a property of this size. The large number of closed rooms, combined with warm indoor air meeting colder external walls, was creating ideal conditions for mould growth.

We recommended a PIV Unit, which would supply fresh, filtered air throughout the home. All while maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature. The PIV unit works by drawing air in through the loft space and distributing it  through the home.

Phil was pleased with our PIV unit cost of installation and was happy to proceed.

Our engineer Johnny carried out the installation with the same care and attention we bring to every install. The PIV unit was positioned neatly in the loft. Ensuring a balanced airflow across all four bedrooms and the main living areas.

The installation was completed within a few hours, with no mess and no disruption. Once the PIV system was activated, the home began receiving a continuous flow of clean, filtered air. This immediately started to reduce humidity levels throughout the property.

The PIV Installation Result

Phil was very pleased with both the installation and the early results. Here is the review he passed on to us after the system was fitted:

“ClearAir PIV was great. The installation was quick. The house already feels fresher, and the condensation has reduced”

A PIV system works gradually but effectively, and Phil can expect continued improvements over the coming weeks as the unit regulates moisture levels.

Why a PIV Unit Is Ideal for homes in Derby

Derby has a wide mix of older homes and newer builds. Many of these properties experience condensation due to limited natural ventilation. A PIV unit is particularly effective because:

  • It reduces humidity across the whole property
  • It stops condensation forming on cold surfaces
  • It prevents black mould from returning after cleaning
  • It improves air quality and creates a healthier indoor environment
  • It operates quietly and efficiently, even in winter

For homes like Phil’s, it provides a long-term, low-maintenance solution to a long-standing issue.
