Beating Condensation and Improving Air Quality
At ClearAir PIV, we help homeowners across Staffordshirewho are dealing with condensation. Recently, we carried out a PIV unit installation for Mr Shaun Beaumont, who lives in a 2-bedroom terreced house in Burton.
The condensation and dampness problem
Shaun contacted us after experiencing ongoing damp concerns in his two bedroom mid terrace property in Burton upon Trent. The downstairs rooms were showing signs of suspected dampness. While black mould growth was visible throughout the home.
A key warning sign was persistent humid air and condensation forming on the windows. Particularly during colder periods when the house was cold. This is a strong indicator of poor airflow and trapped moisture within the property. Without proper ventilation, excess humidity has nowhere to escape, creating the ideal conditions for damp and mould growth.
Our assessment
Following an initial assessment at the property in Burton. We identified that the root cause of the issue was inadequate ventilation rather than a structural damp problem. Moist air was building up inside the home.
This was due to everyday activities such as cooking, washing and heating. With no effective system in place to replace it with fresh filtered air.
To address this properly, we recommended a whole house ventilation solution. All designed to improve airflow, reduce condensation and help control internal humidity levels.
The solution, installing a PIV unit
We installed a Nuaire heated PIV unit. It was positioned in the loft space to gently introduce filtered air into the property. This creates positive input ventilation PIV through the continuous flow of fresh air. It then pushes stale, moisture laden air out through natural leakage points.
To ensure electrical safety and compliance, a 63 amp RCD was also fitted as part of the installation. The heated PIV unit helps prevent cold draughts during winter months. Making it ideal for older terraced properties where comfort is just as important as performance.
The result. Preventing condensation, stale air and black mould
Once installed, the system immediately began improving air circulation throughout the home. Over time, this will significantly reduce the condensation problem on the windows. It will also help prevent further mould growth and improve overall indoor air quality. All done efficiently and with low running costs.
Shaun now has a long term ventilation solution that tackles the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. The property feels fresher, healthier and better protected against future damp and condensation issues.

This was a great service right from the initial phone call. The communication was there all the way through and the knowledge of the install and product was obvious from the start. They asked key questions about the house to ensure that this product could be installed, and when the work was carried out it was done quickly, cleanly and when they said it would. From initial enquiry to competion of fitting of VIP unit I have nothing but praise for this firm. Communication from Steven was always prompt and information given was clear and concise. No "hard sell" just good advice. Cameron fitted the unit and completed full electrical check. He was also very pleasant, got on with the job and was able to answer any queries. He also left no mess and completed the work in a few hours. Early days but the unit appears to be doing its job well. Absolutely no condensation from day one. Can completely recommend this firm.

The service that we received from ClearAir PIV and Steven himself has been excellent. We have been looking into PIV systems for a while as we have had such a problem with condensation on our bedroom windows. As soon as the temperature begins to drop each year the windows are covered. It has ruined the decor around the windows and caused mould to grow on the frames. Having spoken to Steven on the phone I could tell had specialist knowledge in the area. There was no hard sell, just advice. I got him booked in the same week to fit an Nuaire PIV and I’m so glad we did. Fitting was done quickly and cleanly by John who was friendly, well presented and very knowledgeable and experience in ventilation systems. Steven came too to give advice on another issue we had discussed on the phone. Result: NO MORE CONDENSATION!!! I thought it might take a few days to clear the moisture, but the next morning we checked the windows when they would normally be soaked and… nothing! And nothing since! So happy! I’d read in some reviews of the PIV systems that they were noisy and made the landing cold. This is not my experience. I honestly can’t hear it and although the landing may be ever so slightly cooler, the overall temp of the house isn’t effected and it’s not anything I’m concerned about.
